Description Our Economy rolling track gauge reader is used to measure the distance between the rails, also known as track gauge . The track gauge is the distance between the inner faces of two rails that makeup a railway track. Designed to measure up to 2" gauge variation while walking down the track. The spring-action telescopic assembly expands and contracts as gauge changes. Workers can use this rolling track gauge reader while walking and looking down at the lens and gauge scale. Steel roller bearings measure gauge at 5/8" below top of rail and can pass over rail joints but not through switches. Insulated to prevent disruption to track circuits. Clearance above rail: 1/8".
